      The objective of the Microprogram in Survey Research and Public Opinion is to provide exceptional training in survey research theory and analysis. The program involves students in all the necessary stages required to undertake a public opinion survey, from the selection of research questions and topics to cover, to the development of survey questions, their programming, analysis, and their public communication. Students will have the opportunity to gain invaluable hands-on research experience in the design of surveys and the use of sophisticated quantitative methods to analyze survey data. Students will have the opportunity to realize and analyze a public opinion survey that will be administered to respondents across Canada. The microprogram consists of 6 course units and must be completed over the fall and winter semesters of an academic year. The microprogram is offered in English (2022-2023; 2023-2024) and in French (2024-2025) in alternation.

      Students already admitted into the Master or Ph.D. programs in Political Science or Public Administration can complete the microprogram on an optional basis and have these credits count towards the program requirements in view of obtaining their degree (students registered in Public Administration need the approval of the Supervisor of the M.A. and Doctoral studies in Public Administration before enrolling in the microprogram). The completion of the microprogram will be mentioned in their transcript.

      Professional students who want to register in the M.A. program in Political Science or Public Administration after the completion of the microprogram can have these credits count towards the program requirements in view of obtaining their degree. The M.A. admission and language requirements do apply.

      Students already admitted and enrolled in a graduate program

      Students wishing to pursue a graduate program must apply for, and be admitted to, their graduate program before they enroll in a second Graduate Microprogram identified within their existing program.

      If you have already enroll in a graduate studies program and would like to add a microprogram to your program of study, contact your faculty’s graduate studies office.

      Non-degree students

      Students pursuing a Graduate Microprogram, without being admitted to or intending to complete a graduate program, must obtain the prior approval of the academic unit offering the Graduate Microprogram.

      Students must meet the following eligibility:

        * Bachelor’s degree or a major in political science or other social sciences discipline
        * Minimum average of 75% (B+)

      If you would like to enroll in a microprogram without being admitted in a graduate studies program, send an email to the graduate studies office of the faculty and include the following documents:

        * CV
        * You must submit copies of all transcripts from universities you have attended. Transcripts must cover all courses and programs at any university you have attended, including regular programs (whether completed or not), exchanges, letters of permission, online or correspondence courses, courses taken as a special student or visiting students, etc. If your transcript and degree certificate are not in English or French, you must submit a certified translation (signed and stamped and sealed).
        * Letter of intent describing your motivations and objectives in enrolling in the microprogram
        * Proof of proficiency in your program's language of instruction. In the case of applicants whose first language is neither English nor French. The language proficiency test scores equivalencies are:
            + TOEFL 580 / IELTS Overall 6.5 - Individual 6.0 (Paper-based)
            + TOEFL 92-93/IELTS 6.5 overall – Individual 6.0 (Internet-based)
