This 9 course units microprogram on the Development of Indigenous child-family services aims to meet the needs of Indigenous communities who, following the coming into effect in 2020 of the federal law C-92, are developing or wishing to develop their own child and family support systems. It specifically wants to support the training needs of stakeholders who will be involved in this transformation process by offering the required knowledge foundations.
This microprogram is aimed at all people (students registered in a program at the University of Ottawa, holders of a secondary diploma, volunteers, stakeholders or others) who have an interest in working in organizations serving Indigenous children, families and communities. The microprogram is primarily meant for Indigenous people.
Most course sessions are offered online. Some sessions may take place in Indigenous communities. Courses will favor a schedule outside of usual working hours (evenings, weekends and intensively, if necessary). The courses will be taught by Indigenous professors, and/or co-taught with Indigenous speakers and professors from the School of Social Work. For more details, visit the School of Social Work website.
This program is offered in French only.
